Charlotte, N.C.-based Swisher Hygiene, whose chairman is legendary waste industry figure H. Wayne Huizenga, has acquired Central Carting Disposal and its sister company CCI Hauling for $15 million. The two firms serve approximately 26,000 customers in central Florida.

Swisher Hygiene, which provides cleaning products and services for commercial properties, entered the solid waste sector by acquiring For Lauderdale, Fla.-based Choice Environmental Services earlier this year.

“The acquisition of Central/CCI provides Swisher Hygiene with another strong platform for the ongoing execution of our growth and expansion strategy throughout Florida,” said Glen Miller, CEO of Choice Environmental, in a press release. “We are excited to have [Central Carting owner] Angelo Verrelli and his team join the Swisher Hygiene family, and believe his extensive experience in the industry will be a significant benefit to Swisher Hygiene as we grow our business.”

“Provided the opportunity to join a dynamic group with various potential growth plans and prospects, I decided to come on board with the Swisher Hygiene family,” added Verrelli in the press release.
