Montreal-based AbitibiBowater has sold three material recovery facilities (MRFs) to Waste Management Recycle America for $12 million. The MRFs are located in Arlington, Texas; Houston; and San Antonio.

"The sale of our Texas processing assets allows us to refocus our energy on expanding our recycling services to more customers in more cities across North America, while supporting responsible paper use and recovery," stated Sylvain Longval, AbitibiBowater’s Vice President of Recycling - North America, in a press release. "These turnkey recycling programs are a testament to AbitibiBowater's product stewardship, leadership in recycling and proactive approach to sustainability."

AbitibiBowater produces newsprint, commercial printing papers, market pulp, wood products, and is a major recycler of newspapers and magazines.
