Kansas City Business Journal has more:

Deffenbaugh Industries Inc. is being sued for stinking up a Shawnee neighborhood with "horrific" odors, pollutants and air contaminants from its landfill in the area.

The suit was filed in the U.S. District Court by neighbors who are seeking class-action status as well as compensatory, special and punitive damages, and attorneys' fees. They also seek to have the odors named a nuisance and requested an order requiring Deffenbaugh to expeditiously correct the operation of the facilities so odors no longer invade neighboring properties.

According to the lawsuit, the landfill has been the subject of hundreds of complaints over the past few years, including more than 100 in the last three months of 2015 alone.
