Powercon to Pay $40,000 for Alleged Waste Violations in Severn

Powercon Corp. will pay a $40,000 penalty to settle "alleged violations of hazardous waste regulations" at a facility in Severn, the Environmental Protection Agency announced.

The EPA alleges Powercon failed to: conduct weekly inspections of hazardous waste storage areas; comply with requirements for personnel training, recordkeeping, contingency plans, and maintenance; and properly label universal waste batteries.
