Waste Management (WM) Recycle America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Houston-based Waste Management, has launched an initiative with iGo, a manufacturer of chargers and adapters, aimed at increasing the recycling of such devices.

Through the iGo Recycles Program, iGo customers can mail their used chargers and adapters to WM Recycle America, which will process the devices for reuse. WM Recycle America recycles materials in conjunction with the Basel Action Network Electronics Recycler’s Pledge of True Stewardship, which requires firms to process all hazardous materials domestically, protect workers’ health and track e-waste throughout the recycling chain.

“We are always looking for new partners and new ways to increase the recycling of e-waste, one of the fastest growing consumer waste streams,” said Patrick DeRueda, president of WM Recycle America, in a press release. “Our partnership with iGo will help capture and recycle more electronic equipment and instead of disposing discarding these materials, repurpose them into new consumer goods.”
