Medical Waste Firm Stericycle Posts Stronger Quarterly Results

Medical waste firm Stericycle Inc. posted stronger net income and revenue for its third quarter.

The Lake Forest, Ill.-based Stericycle said for the quarter ended Sept. 30 that net earnings rose 22.9 percent to $80.5 million, or 92 cents per share, compared with $65.5 million, or 75 cents per share, in the year-ago period, according to a news release.

Revenue climbed 11.3 percent to $534.6 million from $480.5 million a year ago.

For the nine months, net profits increased 17 percent to $233.2 million, or $2.67 per share, compared with $197.9 million, or $2.28 per share, a year earlier.

Revenue advanced 11.7 percent to $1.57 billion compared with $1.41 billion in 2012.
