Cleveland Heights, Ohio to Automate Trash, Recycling Pickup

The city of Cleveland Heights, Ohio is looking to move to automated garbage and recycling by the end of 2021.

However, the process has stalled after manufacturing shortages are causing the delay of the new collection vehicles. Nevertheless, the city is moving forward with providing its 14,000 customers with new carts by the fall.

Cleveland Heights will move from distinctive blue bags to using the carts. According to the city, "collection routes will be reduced from five a day to four, and the recycling routes will be reduced from three collection routes a day to two."
