Explosions at Kentucky Recycling Plant Prompt Complaints from Neighbors

In Newport, Ky., neighbors are complaining about repeated explosions at the River Metals Recycling facility.

The company, that has admitted to "occasional combustion events," has been issued one citation in the last five years. Newport entered a contract with an engineering firm to study the facility and found that Sound Pressure Level exceeded zoning code ordinance on at least three occasions.
