Netafim USA Opens Irrigation Dripline Recycling Program in Texas

FRESNO, Calif. --Netafim USA, a subsidiary of Netafim Ltd. – the global leader of precision irrigation solutions, announced the commencement of its dripline recycling operations in the state of Texas. Established in 1981, Netafim USA’s entry into the U.S. marketplace changed the face of the agriculture industry by providing growers with innovative drip irrigation technology that optimizes the delivery of water and nutrients and ultimately improves yields. Netafim is strengthening and expanding its recycling efforts by initially focusing on Southeast Texas and plans to roll out its recycling operations to other parts of the U.S.

Netafim USA first pioneered the practice of utilizing recycled content to manufacture driplines in order to meet LEED green building rating and certification requirements. After opening its California-based recycling facility in 2007, Netafim made significant investments in research and testing. These investments allowed the company to perfect a proprietary process that incorporates recycled content into the driplines without sacrificing performance and quality standards. In March 2019, Netafim took the bold step of introducing the industry’s first irrigation dripline containing recycled content with the launch of Streamline X ReGen.

In 2019, Netafim USA was awarded a multimillion-dollar grant to fund the expansion of its ReGen™ Recycling operation. Netafim collects, shreds, washes, and pelletizes thousands of tons of used irrigation tubing every year.

“Netafim has led innovations that have changed farming for the better, including the industry’s first vertically integrated dripline recycling solution,” said Chuck Bates, Vice President of Products and Agronomy, Netafim USA. “Opening recycling operations in Texas represents the latest in a series of significant steps forward in our commitment to sustainability and to help minimize the environmental impact of farming through a complete, end-to-end, closed-loop dripline recycling solution."

“A sustainable supply chain is the backbone of today’s agricultural economy. We are committed to taking decisive and strategic steps to improve sustainable agricultural practices, optimize yields, and improve the livelihoods of farmers today and for generations to come,” said Mike Hemman, President and CEO, Netafim USA.

“There’s no question that climate change and other external factors have created a new urgency for local growers to adopt more sustainable farming practices. It’s essential that we continue to support farmers by providing them with innovative solutions that address those issues as well as the practical concerns of running a farming operation,” added Danny Sosebee, Agronomic Relationship Manager - South Central U.S., Netafim USA.

“Today’s farmer is under increased pressure to minimize the environmental impact of farming and enhance their supply chain sustainability,” said Fred Schuster of Rio Fresh Inc. “Each one of us here in Texas and across the country has a responsibility to extend our reach beyond our farms so that we can minimize the impact on the environment.”
