November 18, 2021
Arlington, VA – In celebration of National Seat Belt Day (November 14), the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) announced that drivers in the waste and recycling industry buckle up more often than drivers in other industries. According to data provided by Lytx, seat belt use in non-preventable incidents was 93 percent, and in preventable incidents, it was 84 percent.
“As we recognize National Seat Belt Day, I am glad that seat belt use is so high among our drivers. Safety in the waste and recycling industry is a priority for NWRA,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “We have a safety committee that meets regularly to discuss best practices to ensure our workforce remains safe on the job.”
