COVID-19 Hits Baltimore Solid Waste Yard

Seven employees at Baltimore’s east side solid waste yard have test positive for COVID-19. In addition, at least eight of the city’s sanitation workers have tested positive for COVID-19.

Due to the illness, the city is suspending recycling collection for three weeks. The city will continue with regular trash collection, although there may be delays.

“There’s been an alarming number of positive COVID-19 cases at our eastside solid waste yard,” said Matthew Garback, acting director at Baltimore’s Department of Public Works.
